Harbel, Liberia, West Africa: (June 19, 2019)- As part of the company’s continual efforts to provide quality and accessible medical services to its employees and their dependents, the management of Firestone Liberia, Inc. today announced the opening of the new Farmington Health Center located in Division 27 of the concession.
Speaking during the grand opening ceremony of the new health facility on Thursday, June 6, 2019, Firestone Health Services Medical Director, Dr. Benedict N. Wollor, commended the management of Firestone Liberia for providing the resources for the new facility. “The expansion of our health services at Division 27 is a fulfillment of our commitment to our employees and the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Firestone Agricultural Workers Union of Liberia,” Dr. Wollor said.
For his part, Firestone Liberia General Manager, Don Darden, commended the many teammates who played a pivotal role in ensuring that the new medical facility became a reality. He further said that the company was proud to further honor its medical obligations to the company’s employees and their dependents through this new medical facility.
Abraham D. Nimene, President of the Agricultural Agro-processing and Industrial Workers Union, thanked the company for its professional services rendered, be it in education or medical services.
The newly opened facility includes a delivery room, pharmacy, laboratory and emergency room. Other facilities include a vaccination unit, and female and male wards. The special occasion of the facility grand opening was attended by Margibi Health Team representative, Dr. Monconjay Hunter Suku, and scores of employees from departments throughout the company.
Firestone Liberia provides medical care free of charge to its employees and their dependents through services at its 300-bed Firestone Medical Center, two medical clinics and a medical holding center located throughout the company’s concession.
