Brick by Brick: The Business of Rebuilding Liberia

More Than 70 Graduate From Firestone's Adult Education Program

Education is certainly a focal point of the social services that Firestone Liberia provides its employees. We believe education is a key element to create a brighter future for Liberia, which is why all children of employees are given the opportunity of a quality K-12 education free of charge.

But we don't stop there. In addition to the Firestone School System, we also provide the Firestone Adult Education Program. These programs are open to all who seek to gain knowledge and skills to enrich their lives — not just Firestone employees and residents. Those who enroll in the Firestone Adult Literacy Academic Program learn how to read and write; those who join the Skills Training Program learn such skills as sewing, baking, cooking and basic carpentry.

Today, the company recognized more than 70 graduates of the Adult Education Program at the Harbel Field House. Over the past 12 months, these individuals received vocational and academic skills one needs to get a job or start a business, illustrating how the program contributes to the social and economic vitality of our community and Liberia as a whole.

Education is a fundamental value of Firestone Liberia; it's never too late to learn.
